This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one Shawn Lee who was born in Bed-Stuy, New York on 24 October 1966 and passed away on 26 February 2011 at the age of 44. We will remember him forever.

His legacy
Cherished Memories  
Shawn Swaboda Lee was born to Ernest B. Lee and Lillian P. Lee on October 24 1966 in Brooklyn  New York.

The Lord called him home to a place of peace and rest on February 26 2011.

Shawn was very ambitious adventurous and energetic even as a child.
At the age of nine Shawn started his own newspaper delivery business.

His father coached the neighborhood little league baseball team where Shawn began his love for playing sports and being a part of the team. Shawn and his neighborhood friends enjoyed playing what they called “smash-faced” football.

Shawn was a graduate of Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn NY. He went on to continue his education and played football for two years at Westchester Community College in Valhallia NY. After a Hall of Fame college career at the University of North Alabama Shawn enjoyed a 12 year career in the National Football League.

Drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1988-1990 Shawn went on to play with some great teams and co-workers in Miami Dolphins San Diego Chargers and Chicago Bears organizations. During his 6 year career with the San Diego Chargers Shawn was a member of the Chargers’ lone Super Bowl team the AFC champions of 1994.

Known as “GrizLee” Shawn was a gentle giant with a heart of gold.
A true humanitarian, Shawn gave back to the community throughout his career and beyond. Shawn had a passion for family friends poetry music martial arts Chinese medicine cooking eating and talking about good food.

Shawn was a lover of love and a champion for peace justice and fairness. All who encountered him remember his infectious smile and even bigger laugh. Shawn enjoyed the simple pleasures of being surrounded by nature and his pets.

Tanya Lee-Riley ( James ) and a brother Earnie L. Lee of Raleigh NC.
A daughter Satori C. Lee of New Jersey two nephews DeShawn L. Lee of Charlotte NC and Earnie C. Lee of Raleigh NC. Two nieces Tiffany Gulston of Charlotte NC and Brianna L. Lee of Raleigh NC. In addition too a host of aunts uncles cousins and numerous friends and fans. Shawn was preceded in death by his mother Lillian P. Lee.
